Biotech & Genomics Platform
Illumen drives modernization of the USDA National Agricultural Library’s bioinformatics and genomics infrastructure, strengthening the global data foundation for research in agriculture and life sciences.
In partnership with Hitachi, we restructured data pipelines and ETL workflows to enhance the speed and precision of large-scale genomic cataloging and metadata processing.
Our engineers implemented a secure DevSecOps framework, migrating systems to Azure-based microservices and improving automation through CI/CD pipelines. To improve accessibility for research partners, we integrated new APIs and streamlined interoperability between datasets.
Through close collaboration with USDA scientists and data stewards, Illumen helped optimize Pentaho’s analytics and reporting capabilities for complex biological data, cutting query times, and simplifying large-scale ingestion. The Library’s infrastructure can now support next-generation research in genomics, biotechnology, and environmental sciences, including efforts in complex genomics and biotechnology.
